Welcome, Motherless Daughters... 2020 is challenging with the pandemic. It brings up feelings of loss and trauma symptoms, natural responses to the collective trauma we all face. We all respond differently and sometimes it's hard to ask for help. I hope you will join with other motherless daughters or reach out for needed individual professional help. For 23 years I have developed and facilitated groups for motherless daughters. I hope you find some of the information here helpful. If you are looking for further support, individually, or in the company of other motherless daughters in a group, please contact me. For motherless daughters, women who have lost their mothers through death, separation, illness (including narcissism), or estrangement in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood. I am offering an online small, personalized support group beginning in September, 2020. I also offer long or
short-term individual psychotherapy, counseling, and consultations via secure HIPAA-compliant Zoom Since 1997 I've developed and facilitated safe, successful time-limited and on-going Motherless Daughters Support Groups for women to have a safe place to grieve and celebrate life, explore relevant issues, current and past, learn how others have coped, understand how the past influences the present in relationships and other ways. In group and individual therapy, your process of healing and growth are always respected in the collaborative work we do together. I have maintained a general private practice for 28 years in Marin, serving individuals, couples, families, and groups. I am also a "motherless daughter," since my mother's death in adolescence, a life-transforming event. I have written articles about my personal experience and I am quoted in Hope Edelman's books, "Motherless Daughters" and "Motherless Mothers." I began facilitating Motherless Daughters Support Groups following publication of Hope's "Motherless Daughters". In 2014 I was honored to be on a panel at a motherless daughters conference in L.A., hosted by Hope Edelman and celebrating the 20th anniversary release of "Motherless Daughters", a NYTimes best-seller. With a general psychotherapy practice, my specialties are loss, trauma, "motherless daughters," mother-daughter relationships, "high-demand groups", coercive control and influence, spiritual and clergy abuse, domestic abuse. I have a grief certification and on-going training in trauma. I work interactively and collaboratively with an integrated cognitive, relational, psychodynamic, systems orientation to meet each client's individual needs. Studies have shown that the "fit" between therapist and client is primary to successful outcomes. Motherless Daughters often express their appreciation that they are "heard" and understood because I am a motherless daughter and motherless mother, and have devoted much of my professional career to this focus. My work is meaningful and gratifying for me. I deeply appreciate all I learn from other motherless daughters, and I believe that every client deserves the utmost respect and understanding in her process of recovery.
