Koraigad is one of the easiest forts on the Sahyadris to reach and ascend. Located right next to Lonavala, its easily reached both from Mumbai and Pune. The well carved steps leading to the plateau top are in very good shape and can be ascended by anyone with ease. The fact that this fort overlooks the Sahara Amby Valley township has only added to it's popularity in recent times.

The fort is endowed with a large plateau top carpeted with a lush green meadow during monsoons. Two large water bodies add splendor to the view. The water they hold is potable and it is said that they don’t dry up during the summer months. One can easily spend a couple of hours ambling around on the top visiting various view points and fort remnants. Though the least interesting thing that I found on the fort top was the view of Amby valley bungalows and swimming pools, it apparently did excite most people to catch a glimpse of the guarded township, which otherwise does not allow public to enter into the premises, without a visitor pass.

Reached Lonavala at 7 by Sinhagad express. After breakfast took the first bus towards Ambavne at 9:15. (There are share taxis plying from market too). Got down at Peth Shahapur (15 KM) at 10 and reached the fort top by 11. Spent around 3 hours on the fort top and then descended. Took a local train to Pune and reached before evening.
