U povijesnim se izvorima spominje kao Szarvasko (prema madž. szarvas = jelen). Prema postojećim podacima izgrađen je u drugoj polovici 13. stoljeća, u vrijeme kad je čitav moslavački posjed bio u vlasništvu porodice Makarijevića. Kasnije su vlasnici bili Čupori Moslavački, zatim Bakaczi de Erdody. U drugoj polovici 16. stoljeća pao je u ruke Turaka. Nakon toga je prepušten propadanju i nije više nikad obnavljan. Dužina mu je oko 65 m, a širina od 13 do 15 m. Ulaz je bio s jugoistočne strane, vjerojatno preko pokretnog mosta. Vanjski zidovi su debeli do 2 m, a visine na mjestima do 8 m. Pregradnih zidova nema. Postoje ostaci kapelice, ulaza u podzemlje, stepenica za gornji kat, prozora i puškarnica. S njegovih zidina je lijep vidik na okolne šume. Ulaz je bio s jugoistočne strane, vjerojatno preko pokretnog mosta. Vanjski zidovi su debeli do 2 m, a visine na mjestima do 8 m. Pregradnih zidova nema. Postoje ostaci kapelice, ulaza u podzemlje, stepenica za gornji kat, prozora i puškarnica. S njegovih zidina je lijep vidik na okolne šume.

In historical books it's mentioned as a Szarvasko (hungarian word. szarvas = deer). Jelengrad was built in second part of 13th century. Makarijević family owned whole Moslavina at that time. After them Čupor family, and after them Bakaczi de Erdody family owned Jelengrad. Turks concor Jelengrad in the other half of 16th century and after that Jelengrad was left to declay and it has never been restored. Jelengrad is about 65 meters lenth, and from 13 to 15 meters width. The entrance in town was probably from south-east side, probably threw bridge which was possible to move. Walls were like to 2 meters thick, and 8 meters high. There is no such thing as divisional walls. It has chapel remains, underground enter, stairs for up floor, window and loophole. When you climb up to walls you can see a lovley woods all around.

Ostaci starog grada Jelengrada nalaze se na uzvisini (oko 300 m n.v.) s desne strane potoka Jelenka u blizini sela Gornja Jelenska. Do Jelengrada se može doći planinarskim stazama od Moslavačke Slatine, Pleterca ili Podgarića. Najkraći prilaz je od makadamske ceste koja dolazi iz Gornje Jelenske (2 km od asfaltne ceste), preko koje prolazi planinarski put od Kaluđerovog groba prema Jelengradu. 

Jelengrad remains are at 300 meters height. It situated by village Gornja Jelenska and by river Jelenka which flows on the right side. There are a hiking trails from Moslavačka Slatina, Pleterac and Podgarić. The shortest trail is from macadam road that comes from Gornja Jelenska (2 km from the asphalt road). Macadam road passes threw hiking trail from Kaluđer grave to Jelengrad.
