Mrs E Mort
The remains of the late Mrs E Mort of Derwent St, Leigh were intered at Leigh Cemetery on Saturday. The interment was preceeded by a service
in Pennington Church. Among the mourners who were present in the church to pay their last respect were Ald J Ashworth JP and Mr
J Flanaghan JP representing the Leigh Friendly Collecting Society, of which Mr Mort is Chairman. The principal mourners were Mr P Mort,
(husband) Mr and Mrs Page and Cissie (daughter, son-in-law, and niece) Mr and Mrs Fred Mort (son and daughter-in-law) Mrs
T Mort (sister in law), Mr J Mort (cousin) and Mrs Crook

Obituary Mrs William Mort
The death took place suddenly on Friday morning of Mrs Minnie Rosina Mort, of 23 The Avenue, Leigh, wife of Councillor William Mort
staff officer and in charge of he secretarial department of B. I. Callenders Cable Company, Anchor Works, Leigh
Mrs Mort, who was 58 years of age, had not ben well for som time, but her death was quite unexpected. She was apparentl in
her usual health on Friday morning but she had a heart attack and died before her husband could reach home from the Cable Works.
A native of Leigh, Mrs Mort was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Jack Halliwell of Chapel St. She was of a retiring disposition, but she
had many friends by whom she was held in high esteem. She was a member of Leigh Parish Church and the Guild of Service, and during
the war she served in the Forces Canteen in Union St. She leaves a husband and one daughter, Miss Hilda Mort, who is a teacher in the Leeds district.
The funeral took place at Leigh Cemetery on Tuesday morning after service in the Parish Church. Amonst those present were the Mayor and Mayoress.
