April 24, 2010 - Eight songs are done.  Kind of.  We've begun the recording process, and have noticed that our tastes have once again shifted just a bit.  We can't call this new music just "black metal" anymore.  There are elements of black metal (blast beats, repetitive chords), but the music itself is certainly not very black.  It IS a crushing wall-of-sound with lots of heavy down-stroked chords, loud synths, blast beats.  The guitar playing probably has more in common with the Ramones than Mayhem.  Though we haven't gone crust-punk like some other former black metal bands have gone.  Dimaension X just kind of shrugged his shoulders when we played him some of the first songs.  He was expecting more of a return to blackness, but we just aren't there anymore.  We want to keep the dark, spacey atmosphere, but we just aren't "evil" right now.

Another thing you'll notice is that Zath has decided to avoid overly technical fancy drumming and has stuck with simple, minimal drumming that obviously takes a lot of endurance to play blast-beats for such a long time.  Shades of  "Transylvanian Hunger".  Sort of.  But not quite.  Maybe more Wire-influence, or maybe some early Killing Joke?  Even some Band of Susans and Glenn Branca/Rhys Chatham.  Ministry?

We'll keep posting more as we get further along in the process.  It's sure to be interesting, to say the least.

 - Zath is back!  Yes, our original drummer Zatholal is back in the drum throne and has inspired us to begin work on some new material.  Our bud Dimaension X will still be working with us as a producer and recording engineer, and will be contributing some synths, some guitar parts and ambient backgrounds

We're kind of psyched up about this, and have some new ideas for new material.  We will also be returning somewhat to our more black metal roots, lots of blast-beats and evil tremolo picked riffs, but keeping a spacey and dark atmosphere.  Kind of like Marduk jamming with Darkspace and Xasthur.

We will update with the latest news as the recording progresses.

- Yeah, it's been awhile since we've posted anything, mainly due to work, school, life, etc.  We did get reviewed in a blog that we contacted, so dive over there and read it at Cerebral Metalhead.

We're not sure right now if we will be continuing as a band.  We just don't seem to have the time to properly pursue creating any new music.  I'd call us "on hiatus".

We'll post any new news as time goes by.

September 1, 2009
- The new album, "Darkness" is now posted in our discography.  As we've noted in the posts/updates below, this one is a bit different - much more in the minimal drone/doom vein.  It's just something we wanted to pursue, yet keep a dark atmosphere to the overall feel of the music.  We're pretty satisfied with the final result, and we're very happy with Dimaension X's drums.  We think he fit in quite well and added much more than we thought he would.  He also threw in some guitar parts and solos, which we also liked a lot.

So plese go to the discography page, download it, and blast away.  We are also planning on uploading it to last.fm also.  And eventually we will get both albums on the Internet Archive.

August 6, 2009
- Latest music update - as you''ve seen below, Zatholal has left us, and Dimaension X will be partaking of the the drum throne.  We're going through a big shift in sound, keeping it dark and spacey, but most definitely more minimal, doomy, and droney.  We want this next album to have a different atmosphere, still heavy, but more "open".  The chord progressions are most definitely different than the last album.

We've even revised the actual sound of the guitars themselves.  Instead of a typical "metal" sound, we're delving into digital simulations of the classic amps and effects used in Doom and Drone music.  Our Line 6 processors have a great simulation of the classic Orange D-30 amp, and the old Big Muff fuzz pedal, along with analog delays and flangers/phasers, etc.

The drums won't be tight and crisp, but much more open and "thumpy".  Dimaension X is probably going to throw down a few guitar solos.  And we're digging up some weird "horror movie" samples that we're going to sprinkle in the background.

This whole project could backfire and suck, but it's just something in our collective systems that we need to do.  We're sure SunnO))) and Earth have nothing to fear from us.

August 2, 2009
- Our drummer  Zatholal has announced that he is leaving the band.  The band has begun a definite shift in sound and style to a more Doom and Drone orientation.  Zatholal stated that he "was not enthused about the changes in style" that the band will be pursuing over the next album or two, and will leave before doing any drumming for the albumsDimaension X (aka Dave Lanciani) has stated that he will step in to temporarily replace Zatholal in the drum and percussion duties.
"I can't say as I really blame him," said Ygorathla.  "Zatholal is a pretty technical drummer who really likes playing those fast blast beats and double-bass parts, and there really isn't much of that at all in our new music.  It takes a rare drummer to have the patience to play in a Doom/Drone band.  The drum beats and beat-per-minute tempii are incredibly slow and monotonous for most drummers who'd rather be playing more complex patterns."
"That's where I come in," stated Dimaension X.  "I'm a terrible drummer to begin with, and can really only play very slow parts.  I'll still be programming some of the parts I can't play, but I'm going to try actually sitting at my edrum kit and play as much as possible."
So the album will be slightly delayed as DX takes over as drummer.

We wish Zatholal all the best and are leaving the door open if he ever wants to come back.

- We are working on our next album, which will be much more DOOM/Drone than black metal sounding.  We've convinced Dimaension X (aka Dave Lanciani) to help us out more on this one, kind of like he did with Burn Without Me's 2nd album.  He'll be adding a bit more synth, some rhythm guitars, maybe a solo or two, and just making everything sound better.  We're looking forward to this collaboration.
