“More Than A Race!” is an initiative to raise awareness and inspire others to help solve the problems impacting Black male youth in rural and urban areas across the country.

As a multiple marathon finisher, Muhammed Akil understands the discipline and training required to be prepared for a standard marathon (26.2 miles).  BUT, the task of saving Black youth from the violence and lack of direction that plagues them requires an enormous effort on the part of many.

Unlike the previous marathons Muhammed has completed, he has stepped up to running the
Comrades Ultra Marathon in South Africa, not once, but twice (in 2010 and 2011).
The ULTRA MARATHON is symbolic of the ULTRA URGENT CRISIS faced by Black youth.
