Kirstin Wong has been a local GP since 1997. She is the Progarmme Director for the Lancaster part of the scheme as well as being a local trainer. She is also a GPwSI in Sexual Health and has an interest in contraception, rheumatology & joint injections.
Dr Steve McQuillan – Training Programme Director (Cumbria)
Steve McQuillan has been a GP locally for the last 22 years, as well as being a trainer and Program Director. He is also a board member of the Cumbria OOH Service, CHOC, as well as being the club doctor for Barrow rugby league team .
Dr Gavin Torr - Primary Care Medical Educator

Dr Torr works at Rosebank and Galgate Surgeries. He trained at the University of Dundee where he had previously completed a degree in Pharmacology. His clinical interests are Acute Medicine, ENT, Palliative Care and Medical Education. He is married and enjoys hiking, mountain biking, skiing, canoeing and sea kayaking. He has family spread all over the world and enjoys travelling.
Dr Simon Edgecombe - Primary Care Medical Educator
MB BS, MRCGP, DCH, DPM, PGCME
Dr Edgecombe has been a trainer and partner at Captain French Surgery in Kendal until recently.
He currently works as a specialty doctor at St John's Hospice in Lancaster.
In addition to his GP educator role he has significant past experience in undergraduate teaching.
Dr Andrew Craven - Associate Director of General Practice Education
MB, ChB, FRCGP
Dr Craven is based in Lancaster and has been involved in training of general practitioners and other doctors since 1993. He works for the Deanery as an Associate Director of General Practice Education in Morecambe Bay.
At a local level he oversees the training of GPs’ throughout the speciality training scheme, and advises on the continuing professional development of GPs’ in the local area. He is available to give career advice to doctors who wish to undertake GP training and those who are having difficulties during training.
He also works closely with the local hospitals, clinical commissioning group and training practices and regularly has meetings with the organisers of undergraduate teaching in Morecambe Bay.
