You may wish to print a copy of this page to take with you on your holiday.

We hope you enjoy your visit to Dartmoor at Moorhayes. Here are a few details which should enable you to plan your stay and check through on departure:

Kitchen has ceramic hob top + oven, fridge, microwave, washing machine
Fridge freezer in porch
Dining room - piano, telephone & WiFi [which is free of charge; login details clearly displayed]
Sitting room - TV, DVD & video
Heating is by night stores + extra plug-in electric heaters
Bedroom "Becky Falls" has 1 king size bed (5') with king size quilt and 1 single bed with single quilt
Bedroom "Bovey Castle" has 2 single beds with single quilts
Bedroom "Widecombe in the Moor" has 1 king size bed (5') with king size quilt, a single bed with single quilts and a pull-out single bed with single quilt.
Bedroom "Hound Tor" has 1 single bed with single quilt
Bathroom - bath and over-bath shower and W.C. There is also a separate W.C.


Moorhayes is a strictly non-smoking property. For the comfort of future visitors, please respect this restriction.

You will need to bring with you:
Duvet covers and sheets (there are a mixture of single and 2 king size duvets provided), towels and pillow cases (unless you have taken the option to have these items supplied - see the Information and Tariff page) and tea towels.
Provisions you will need while settling in.

On Arrival:

You may arrive at any time after 15:00.
The keys are stored in a keysafe. The 4-digit code will be provided by email shortly before your visit. Simply line up the provided digits with the horizontal line and press down the black catch.

Front gates: please shut them at all times - Dartmoor animals are difficult to remove and cause much damage!
Lights are on timers in kitchen and living room. Do not switch off.
Fridges and freezer need to be switched on at arrival and off at departure unless requested otherwise.
Heating is electric - storage heaters can be turned up as necessary. Fuel for wood burning stove may be purchased from a garage. Please do not attempt any cleaning or maintenance of the wood burning stove - particularly the glass.
Water supply is pumped from a borehole. 
Hot water turns blue with soap - it’s harmless.
Hot water is via the immersion heater in the cupboard to the left of the kitchen sink. Switch 1 is overnight heating and switch 2 is to boost during the day.
Phone: incoming calls 01647 221 252; outgoing: emergency 999 only.
Mobiles: signal varies with different networks.
Rubbish: landfill waste goes in the dark green bin. Recycling instructions are in the kitchen. These are specific to Devon and likely to be different from what you are used to. If you have doubts about the procedures, please take recyclable waste home with you. The council are very strict and failing to conform to their rules could result in a fine, which will be passed on to relevant tenants.

Please use food and utensils in the kitchen on a "replace with like" basis. Toilet rolls are in the bathroom. Spare bulbs in slide out wire drawers in kitchen unit opposite back door.

You can shop for groceries online for delivery to Moorhayes, as the postcode (TQ13 9XQ) is very specific. 

On leaving:

Please vacate the property by 10:00 on the day of departure.
Lights - ensure both are plugged in and the timer is accurate.
Doors - that both front doors and both back doors locked.
All other internal doors open for free flow of air.
Immersion heater (in kitchen cupboard) and storage heaters switched off unless asked otherwise.
Windows are locked.
Fridge off and door open.
Please sign the visitors book.
Please ensure that, after locking the doors, the keys are returned to the keysafe, the numbers scrambled and the cover closed.
Front gate is closed.
