Welcome to MoonBots 2012 from Team Starling!

We are very excited to be one of 30 teams from across the world to launch MoonBots 2012 Phase 2.

Team Starling Moonbots 2012 Final Video

Team Starling posted their final video to describe their 100% LEGO GLXP-inspired Ultimate Lunar Landscape, demonstrate each of their robot missions, and show their 5 minute autonomous navigation by their LEGO Mindstorms NXT robot.

Team Starling presented their Moonbots 2012 Ultimate Lunar Landscape at
The Magic House in St. Louis, Missouri, on Sunday Nov. 4 at 2:00 p.m. (Central).
Their Moonbots 2012 presentation was broadcasted live on Ustream:

Team Starling includes 3 team members: Mia, Zoe and Ben. Our awesome coach is our Dad, Evan.

is 12 years old, and brings her amazing problem solving skills to Team Starling.  She has completed 4 seasons of FLL, and is a highly talented robotics programmer with MoonBots experience. Visiting with robotics teams at the World Fest in St. Louis was awesome! Mia is a phenomenal soccer player, enjoys playing volley ball, and has wicked sewing skills.  Her musical contribution to the team are her rocking drum beats.  Mia is a true animal lover, and spent much time this summer caring for our young Starlings, preparing them to fly into the wild.

Ben is 10 years old, and is well known for his sharp mathematical skills he has developed during his 1st decade on Earth. Ben loves robotics, and has great experience building LEGO Mindstorms NXT bots and creating the most awesome programs.  He participated in FLL seasons "Body Forward" and "Food Factor". In his free time Ben also plays soccer like Lionel Messi, and enjoys playing piano and chess. He sure learned a lot about caring for fledgling Starlings this summer. Ben had fun attending the World Festival in his home town of St. Louis, Missouri, and getting the opportunity to meet robotics teams from all over planet Earth!

Zoe is 14 years old, and provides the creative artistry that helps to make Team Starling unique. Her fine art hobbies include drawing and painting and working with various media to express her ideas. Zoe has MoonBots experience and has had fun engineering solid LEGO Mindstorms NXT robotic solutions during the last 4 seasons of FLL.  Visiting the FIRST World Festival in St. Louis was incredible! She is a skilled equestrian and plays the viola (although rarely simultaneously).  Zoe is also an avid reader, and does a lot of research for Team Starling to verify that the team is working with accurate and relevant information as they investigate beyond the boundaries of planet Earth.

Zoe, Mia and Ben deep in lunar research!
