DESCRIPTION: Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are changing how universities reach students around the global. This webinar will provide an overview of MOOCs and their emergence in recent years, as current open course delivery models such as edX, Coursera and Udacity are examined. The presenters will discuss how existing MOOCs can be used to enhance your courses and will discuss MOOC course design and delivery considerations that emerge because of their size, global-reach, and openness. Tools and technologies that can be used in the management of MOOCs will be shared, as the presenters recount their experiences and the lessons they learned while designing, developing, delivering and facilitating two MOOCs at the University of Illinois Springfield. The presentation will conclude with a look at the future of MOOCs and their implications for higher education.
