How You Can Help

There are many opportunities available to help out the PTO.  Feel free to participate in as many as you can.

Attend a meeting
-  If you can only make a couple of meetings a year that is fine.  We all have busy schedules and would love to hear new and exciting ideas.

Join a Committee - Committees are formed so we can have many hands make light work.  Volunteering on a committee is a great way to help make a difference in the education of elementary students in Monticello.

PAWS - Parents Assisting With Supplies -  These are located outside each teacher's door.  They have listed supplies that they need in their classrooms.  Parents are encouraged to purchase the supplies and send them to the teacher.

Committees: (Click on the Forms tab on the left side of this website to fill out a 3 For Me Volunteer form)

Fall Fundraiser: If you like to organize merchandise, are good with a calculator, and like to watch the kids kick off the school year in a big way, this Shannon/Carpenter Fundraiser is for you. (November)

Box Tops: Help organize this event and count Box Tops FROM YOUR HOME.  Watch how clipping these coupons can really add up to cash for our schools. (Fall and Spring)

Auction Basket/DVD Sales: Love the Holidays?  Then pick me!!!  Help pick basket themes, assemble the baskets with the donated merchandise, and watch them go faster than a Black Friday sale J.

Childcare for PTO Meetings:  Can only help from home?  This one’s for you.  Call Silver Service Students to spend 1 hour with PTO members’ children while they attend the meeting. (Monthly)

Teacher Appreciation: Love to cook and make wishes come true?  You have to be on this committee!  Helping with Conference Meals and answering teachers’ wish lists…It’s like Disney.(Fall)

5th & 6th Grades: New Committee.  Pave the way by working with teachers to enhance the schools PBIS  activities like Pumpkin painting and dances. (Spring and Fall)

Walk A Thon:  This is a student & teacher favorite.  Put a little Spring in your step as you walk laps and cheer on the students, while they pound the pavement to raise money for their schools.  (April)

Last Day of School:  OK, if you love watching kids have fun, then you have to help out here.  Plan and Play with the kids…everyone has a BLAST!!!

Playground:  Work with Principle Folken as he puts the finishing touches on Shannon Schools’ new playground.  (Fall)
