The Montezuma Jog-A-Thon will take place on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 around the Montezuma Elementary School (MES) track (AstroTurf field on the Southeast corner of the school).
An informational letter should have gone out in your students folders (a copy of it is HERE). Students are asked to collect pledges (donate online through MemberHub HERE) from family and friends in order to raise money for various school projects. In an effort to increase the money raised, we want to solicit MES area businesses to pledge money to the students. We are asking parents to help with this endeavor.
The purpose of this event is to raise at least $6,000. The money will be used to fund classroom expenses, field trips, and various school programs events. If each child collects $20 in pledges, we will exceed our goal.
Students are asked to collect pledges from family and friends for their effort in running. On the day of the Jog-A-Thon, each grade level will be scheduled to run/walk at a specific time (see below). Laps will be tallied so that each child can track their achievements and collect “per lap” pledges. Children should collect and return all pledges/donations by May 1. Students average about 18 laps each.
Awards will be given to the classes who run the most laps and collect the most money.
We need your help before the Jog-A-Thon to help your child get pledges and donations. We also need your help during the Jog-a-thon to distribute water and popsicles and to count laps. Below are the run times for each grade. Please consider volunteering during your child’s run time or longer! The Jog-a-thon will take place on the EAST side of the school on the turf field along Haines, you can just show up to volunteer, or see the attached volunteer sign up sheet.
Run Times:
K & 2nd - 9:00 - 9:30am
1st & 3rd - 9:45 - 10:15am
5th - 10:30 - 11:00am
4th- 12:00 - 12:30pm
Additionally, in an effort to increase the money raised, we want to solicit MES area businesses to pledge money to the students. We are asking parents to help with this endeavor. You can also access a business sponsorship letter (HERE). If you own a business, know the owner or manager of a business, or frequent a business you think will donate, please consider giving the letter to them. You may also want to approach your employer about donating. Tax receipts will be given to all businesses who donate.
On the day of the Jog-a-thon, please make sure your child dresses appropriately for running or walking, with sunscreen on, and (re-useable) water bottles encouraged. Both running and walking are okay! Children should be encouraged to do what is best for them. It is all about being healthy and having fun.
You may contact the event chairs Beverly Gorman and Claire Pestak or the Montezuma PTA at montezumapta@gmail.com.
Thank you for your help in making this year’s jog-a-thon a success.
