Small trees, the ones poised to succeed their elders in the future, are shown in lighter shades. Each species is a different layer on the map and can be checked or unchecked in the layers menu. It probably works best to examine only one or two species at a time. While the linked map allows zooming in, the small maps on this page illustrate that different species are distributed differently.
