Monroe County Special Ops

The Monroe County Fire Bureau is very excited to announce the formation of the Monroe County Special Operations Unit.

The Monroe County Special Operations Unit has been formed out of a developing need within our community to address low frequency, high risk technical rescue responses and disaster preparedness for Monroe County.  The Monroe County Special Operations Unit is focused on delivering trained personnel and equipment to developing emergency scenes to support or supplement rescue operations already underway by the local jurisdiction in the areas of HazMat, Water Rescue, Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Trench Rescue and Urban Search and Rescue ( such as Building Collapse and Large Area Search incidents).

The Monroe County Fire Bureau has partnered with Organizations such as Monroe Community College (MCC) and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) to provide access to training props and grant funding which will support the further development of the Special Operations Unit.

The Monroe County Special Operations Unit is accepting applications from qualified emergency responders in Monroe County. If interested, please refer to the application documents available for download, below.
