Thermal coupled analysis and redesign of an exhaust manifold

This thesis was completed as a part of our undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. The project aimed at redesigning an exhaust manifold to optimize heat transfer under multiple constraints and thereby generate a polynomial expression that could be used for future design changes. The manifold models used were that of an Ashok Leyland Heno engine. The solid model of the manifold was created in CATIA and a thermal coupled analysis ( Structural + Thermal ) was performed on the manifold using ANSYS. Additionally, MATLAB was used for curve fitting, numerical simulations and plotting graphs.
