  • "Awesome Eclipse and Other Astronomical Wonders" Dr. Don Johnson Edgewood Bible Church 1720 Meridian Ave. East Edgewood, WA 98371 Friday, September 8, 2017 7:00 PM Dr. Johnson showed pictures of the August 21 solar eclipse, other pictures of eclipses, and awesome star formations. A total solar eclipse requires the sun, moon and the earth all to be in 3-body alignment. Scientific discoveries have been made during solar eclipses, especially total eclipses. They allow scientists to see the chromosphere (Sun’s atmosphere), Bailey’s Beads (caused by Moon’s irregularities), the “Diamond ring” effect (caused by light through a deep Moon valley), as well as other effects. Don  highlighted past discoveries made possible by eclipses. For example, measurements taken during a total eclipse were used ...

  • "Science and Humanism: The Bitter Fruits of Evolution" Seminar by Bruce Barton June 7th at 6:30 PM Cedar Park Church Main Sanctuary 16300 112th Ave NE Bothell, WA 98011  Evolutionists charge that creationism has hindered science, and that “no real scientist believes in creation.”  Yet history shows just the opposite: Many of the greatest scientific discoveries have been by scientists who believed in God as Creator.  On the other hand, science based upon evolutionary assumptions has resulted in much wasted research money, and ideas that are now in total disrepute.  Additionally, evolutionary thinking leaves a trail of hopelessness and despair, and ideas that have been devastating to humanity, even resulting in the deaths of millions of people.  Endeavoring to “think God’s thoughts after Him,” as did ...

  • "Don't Miss the Boat" Paul Taylor, Director of Mt. St. Helens Creation Center will speak at Edgewood Bible Church  1720 Meridian Ave. East  Edgewood, WA 98371 Friday May 12, 2017  7:00 PM  What are the biblical and scientific implications of the events of Genesis 6 to 9?  2 Peter 3:5,6 make it clear that the original world was destroyed by water in the Flood. If this is so, such a global event must have left its mark on the world. This talk illustrates why it’s imperative to believe in the global Flood. It looks at what the New Testament says about the Flood, and how the scientific evidence is all around us, in the fossil record and elsewhere, if it ...

Auburn, WA 6:00 PM A six day, young earth understanding of Genesis is the only one that comes from the text itself, which is why the rest of Scripture interprets it that way. Long-age views are a modern aberration that comes from imposing outside ideas of uniformitarian “science” upon the text. See how compromising views render the Bible meaningless to a dying world. You’ll be encouraged and energized to hear there is no need for compromise and that there are answers. Edgewood, WA    7:00 PM We can tell when something shows evidence of having a human designer.  So when things in nature show those same characteristics—only on a much more complex level—it makes sense to attribute that to a Designer as well.  Jonathan discusses several evidences of magnificent design in nature, including DNA, molecular machines, the complexity of the cell, and more.  He also demolishes arguments of ‘bad design’.For directions to Edgewood Bible Church click here.

"If there’s a good God, why is there so much evil in the world?”  You may have heard this question from non-Christians before.  The problem of evil has been a stumbling block to many people, and has been debated by philosophers for centuries.  Mike Riddle tackles this issue and ties in the influence of evolution.  He answers questions such as:                                  ♦  Where did evil come from?  Did God create it?                       ♦  Did God use evolution as a means of creation? This presentation examined and powerfully refuted the so-called “evidence” that man evolved from an ape-like ancestor, rather than being made in the image of God. Although the alleged fossil links between an ape-like ancestor and man are claimed to be the best evidence for evolution, in fact all alleged fossil ape-men fall to pieces under critical examination. He also discussed the probabilities of being able to observe total eclipses. He used Biblical references, and talked about constellations, Zodiac, astrology, and astronomy. He included God’s use of heavenly signs, especially those recorded in the Bible and the 7-year separation between the very rare total solar eclipses.

Evolutionists charge that creationism has hindered science, and that “no real scientist believes in creation.”  Yet history shows just the opposite: Many of the greatest scientific discoveries have been by scientists who believed in God as Creator.

Endeavoring to “think God’s thoughts after Him,” as did astronomer Johann Kepler, not only results in more reliable scientific methods and results, but provides us with a positive outlook on life and hope for the future.

In this presentation I show some of the consequences of ideas based upon evolutionary assumptions, and contrast them with the great advances in science made by Bible-believing scientists.

Science and Humanism: The Consequences of Bad Ideas

by Bruce Barton at Apologetics Forum of Snohomish County

Atonement Free Lutheran Church

Tom Kindell
"Is There a Monkey in Your Family Tree?" by Dr. Tom Kindell.
Does the fossil record support the claims that we evolved from an ape-like ancestor?  Dr. Kindell delivered a strong refutation of that notion.

Dr. Kindell refuted claims that the Australopithecines, Lucy, Homo Erectus and Neathertal Man were our ancestors, along with some of the more recent alleged evidence based on “Ida” and Artipithicus ramidis. Clearly, the fossil record refutes the assertions of Darwinian evolution and powerfully confirms that man was specially created.

Dr. Thomas Kindell was once an ardent believer in the “fact” of evolution. However, through his exposure to the scientific case for creation, he became a zealous creationist. He studied scientific creationism at the Graduate School of the Institute for Creation Research and Apologetics at California Graduate School of Theology, where he received his M.A. in Biblical Studies.  He also holds a Doctorate in Philosophy of Theology.  Dr. Kindell is the founder and president of Reasons for Faith Ministries, Inc., a non-profit ministry dedicated to equipping Christian believers to “give every man an answer” for their Biblical faith.  His website is http://nwcreation.net/kindell/.

"Learning from Catastrophe: Biological Recovery at Mt. St. Helens" by Dr. Keith Swenson.  The eruption of Mt. St. Helens in 1980 destroyed 234 square miles of forest land.  Yet the land has recovered faster than most scientists expected.  This is a small-scale version of how the earth recovered after the Genesis Flood.

Noah’s Flood left the entire earth biologically devastated. Creationists believe that over the tens, hundreds and thousands of years following the Flood, living organisms recovered, eventually producing the ecosystems seen on the modern earth.  But how could such a remarkable recovery happen in such a short time?

Since there is no detailed information on biological changes following the Flood, creationists must look elsewhere for information.  One source is the study of recovery from the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.  Dr. Swenson showed us this renewal of life in the blast zone, noting the resilience of the creation and suggesting some comparisons between what happened at Mt. St. Helens and what must have occurred globally following the great Flood described in the Bible.

Dr. Swenson is a retired MD who now teaches courses in biology and geology at Multnomah Univ. in Portland, OR. He also served for 20 years as President of Portland’s Design Science Association. He enjoys leading field trips to Mt. St. Helens, the Columbia Gorge, Northwest forests and the Grand Canyon.  Keith has a B.S. in Zoology from the Univ. of Idaho and an MD from Washington Univ. School of Medicine in St. Louis.
