My Home Page

Welcome to my home page. I invite you to navigate my personal website for information about my interests, and how as a Professor of Economics I may be of service to you. First, a little about myself. I was born on October 31, 1951 in Osku, now a suburb of Tabriz, the capital of East Azarbaijan province, Iran. After getting my high school diploma from Bozorghmehr High School in Tabriz, I attended National University of Iran (1971-1975) to get my BA degree. I then headed to Michigan State University (1975-1981) where I obtained my MA and Ph.D. degrees.

I began my career as an Assistant Professor here at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1981 and have been promoted to the ranks of Associate, Full, and Distinguished Professor. My research interests lie in the areas of international finance and open economy macroeconomics.

I have served as the Chair of the Economics Department for ten of my 42 years at UWM, at the same time producing 54 Ph.D. students (a record at UWM).

I am also Wilmeth Professor, a chair named after the late Patricia and Harvey Wilmeth, whose generous donations helped to establish the Center for Research on International Economics (CRIE) that I direct. Thanks to their daughters who still continue to support the Center.

On the left you will find links to my CV which includes my coauthored work (mostly with my students), the activities of CRIE, and many other items. For additional information please navigate through these links and contact me for any suggestion, advice, and comments.
