Benchmarking Bio-Model Similarities

Rostock, 14th-15th of November 2013

The 4th model meeting aims to review existing methods to determine similarities in computational biology models. The focus is on so-called bio-models encoded in XML-based standard formats (SBML, CellML, NeuroML...) and equipped with annotations using bio-medical ontologies.

  • How can we define similarities between models?
  • Which information should be incorporated when thinking about model similarity?

  • What are state-of-the-art methods to compare models?
  • What are the strengths of the different methods? What are the weaknesses?
  • Where and how are existing methods being used?

  • What are further thinkable applications of model similarity?
  • Can we define a Gold Standard for model similarity, and if so what are the necessary steps towards it?
