Join us for an engaging presentation by Jim Petersen, author of 210 Days, as he shares the remarkable story of his father, Colonel Peter “Pistol Pete” Petersen, and his extraordinary journey through the U.S. Army.
Drafted during the Korean War, Peter Petersen rose from private to full colonel through grit, leadership, and determination. His career spanned the Cold War and Vietnam eras. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division, graduated from Ranger School, and as a captain in the 5th Special Forces Group, helped establish Green Beret bases in Vietnam and worked with local Montagnard tribes along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. In 1968, he returned to Vietnam as an infantry battalion commander leading 814 men in the Mekong Delta.
For his valor and leadership, Colonel Petersen received numerous decorations, including the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star with “V” Device, Air Medal with “V” Device and 16 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Army Commendation Medal with “V” Device.
Don’t miss this inspiring story of courage, service, and legacy.
