Learning Outcomes & Success Criteria

1. Each participant will develop an increased awareness of the impact grading has on assessment practices.
  • Participants will demonstrate they know and understand this outcome by articulating a change in their own grading practices as written in their end-of-course feedback form.
2. Each participant will create a unit encompassing the proposed shifts in grading and assessment practices.
  • Participants will demonstrate they know and understand this outcome by submitting their unit and parent/student communication narratives to a district administrator at the culmination of the course.

This course focuses on the following Iowa Teaching Standards:

                            Demonstrates ability to enhance academic performance and support for implementation of the school district’s student achievement goals

                            Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position

                            Demonstrates competence in planning and preparation for instruction
