Gilfillan Estate

The Gilfillan Estate houses the mansion of Charles Duncan Gilfillian, who built the impressive mansion, offices, a grain elevator, stock yard and tenant homes., earning his fortune raising livestock for export to Great Britain.  In 1872 his son Charles Oswin Gilfillian, the heir to the estate, was born.  To honor his father's memory he built several buildings as gifts in his name, including the Morgan Library, Gilwood Haven, the Wabasso Library and a town center building in Clements.  The farm site now belongs to the Redwood County Historical Society, to be kept in memory of C.O. Gilfillan for the purpose of preserving its history and that of the surrounding area for the public.
