St. Louis Park Historical Society

The St. Louis Park Historical Society was born in 1971.  It was created almost out of accident. Marie Hartman and colleagues created it in the aftermath of saving the town's old Railway depot. Through her leadership the town rallied, saved the depot  and renovated it. The building was then put on the National Register of Historic Places.  From the Save the Depot committee, the Historical Society was born.  She ran the Society until her death in 1996.
During those years, the Society received donations of railroad memorabilia from various railroad companies around the country. Others have donated memorabilia and artifacts, such as pictures of St. Louis Park from times past.
