Bloomington Historical Society

Established as a non-profit organization in July of 1964, the Bloomington Historical Society strives to discover and preserve the rich history of the city of Bloomington, and to make that information available for others.  The society owns and operates a History Museum which is located in the city's historic Town Hall (1892) which is home to many of the  collections of artifacts and records that the society has collected as well as other historical exhibits.  At the Museum there is also a gift shop available to visitors.
Aside from its focus on preservation and restoration of historical artifacts an records, one of the society's main goals is to also act as an educational link between the local history and students (of all ages!).  This is achieved by providing service based learning opportunities for older students (high school and college) and other programming for younger (elementary school) children.
