Federal Courthouse and Post Office

The Federal Courthouse and Post Office was constructed in Mankato in 1896 in an imposing Romanesque design style.  Subsequent expansions in 1932 and 1965 maintained the styling, but took emphasis away from the central clock tower.  Adding to the architectural significance, it is one of three buildings in downtown Mankato made extensively of local stone.  The building historically housed the Second Division of U.S. District Court and is still used as a Post Office.
