Section I: Registration Policies
  1. You are required to register online (http://www.mnccs.org)
  2. For school planning, we encourage early registration. 
    For 2017-2018 school year, registration before 9/2nd, 2017 and with full payment postmarked by 9/10/2017 will have $20.00 discount on registration fee, i.e. the early registration fee with full payment is only $10.00. The regular registration begins at 9/3rd, 2017. The regular registration fee is $30.00.
  3. Registration fee is not refundable.
  4. Fee Collection Pro-rate Policy - on "quarterly-prorated" basis Students joining the school after the school year started will pay fees on a "quarterly-prorated" base, i.e. roughly based on a total of 31 class days per year, 8 days as the separation point:
    • 24-31 class days left: 100%
    • 16-23 class days left: 75%
    • 8-15 class days left: 50%
    • 1-7 class days left: 25%
  5. Fee Refund policy - on "quarterly-prorated" basis 
    Students drop the school after the school year started will get refund on a "quarterly-prorated" base, i.e. roughly based on a total of 31 class days per year, 8 days as the separation point:
    • Within first 2 sessions, FULL refund of tuition paid
    • After 3-7 class days: 75%
    • After 8-15 class days: 50%
    • After 16-23 class days: 25%
    • After 24 class days: 0%
  6. New Students can try out for two sessions at the beginning of a new semester. If drop off within 2 sessions (including 2 sessions), tuition is fully refundable.
  7. Tuition and related fees are due before the first class day, and have a grace period of 2 class-days. If a student is found not paying fees in full after first two class days of each school year, or two class days after joining the school, there will be a penalty of $5 each class day, up to 50% of the total fee, in addition to the total due.

Section II: Rules For Parents

  1. Enroll and pay tuition/fees for your child student(s) on time at beginning each school semester.
  2. Get your child student(s) in and out of school class on time for the beginning and end of a school day. Report to your child's teacher for any absence prior to class date.
  3. Follow the parking lot rules, emergency evacuation rules, Gym rules.
  4. Stay in the designated parent's room/area during the class time, avoid staying and talking in the Hallway, keep a quiet environment.
  5. Responsible to supervise your child student(s) homework after school, and read/follow all written communications from MNCCS administrators and teachers.
  6. Obtain school permission before making class adjustment.
  7. Parent must obtain school's approval in advance before sitting-in class .
  8. Responsible to coach your child student(s) to follow the Rules for Students.
  9. Participate/volunteer in school activities.
  10. Watch your other kid(s) who is(are) at the school but not registered for any class.
  11. Responsible to pay for property damages caused by your kid(s) or student(s).

Section III: Rules For Students

  1. Get to class on time.
  2. Respect and obey your teacher.
  3. Raise hand to speak in classroom.
  4. Complete classroom assignments and homework on time.
  5. Take care of school property and equipment. Students will be responsible financially for any damages in school.
  6. No running, yelling, screaming, or dribbling balls in the hallway.
  7. Respect others, talk quietly and use proper manners in the hallway.
  8. Do NOT play with lockers, pay-phones, and fire-alarms, etc. If a student plays a fire alarm and results in a false alarm, and/or caused police's visit, the student may be punished by up to being suspended for class for the immediate following week, and responsible for related cost if any.
  9. No food, no drink inside the classrooms.
  10. No graffiti on walls, desks, floors, or on any other school properties.
  11. Do NOT bring weapons or other harmful objects to school.
  12. Students must respect each other. No fighting or assaulting at any circumstances. If such incident happens, any one on site should report to school admin immediately. The initiator or the fault party must apology to the other, and may be punished up to being suspended for classes.

Section IV: Liability Waiver

My child(ren) has my permission to participate in the indoor/outdoor Michigan New Century Chinese School activities. I agree to bring my child to school and pick him/her up immediately at the end of school. I will not hold the Michigan New Century Chinese School, its host facility, currently at School Craft Community Collage, or any of its regular personnel and volunteer workers liable for injury, accidents, illness or other unexpected things during school hours and other school activities. In case of medical emergency, the Chinese School personnel on duty has my permission to obtain emergency treatment for my child/children until I can be contacted. I have read and understand the forgoing statements. I agree to ensure the responsibility stated above and waive all claims indicated.

The school administration reserves the rights to adjust or further clarify all related policies above, and/or to take any further actions when needed.

Registration FAQ

Q. I created a new account. But the I can't login with the username and password. 
A. Please check the confirmation email when you create a new account and follow the instruction. 

Q. What classes do you offer? 

A. The school offers various Chinese classes for both with or without Chinese language background. The school also offers various culture classes such as dance, choir, painting and karate. For a complete list, please visit the Class Schedule page.

Q. What's the typical class size? 
A. It depends on the class, but in general there is a limit of 20 or 15 students.

Q. For which class I should register? 
A. If the student can understand spoken Chinese, it's recommended to attend one of the classes from Chinese Kindergarten to Grade 12, since the classroom language is Chinese. Otherwise, choose one of the Chinese for English Speaking classes. As to which exact class you should register. You can check out the textbook (see more info below) if it's available, then come a bit early before the class starts, talk to the teacher, then try out a couple of classes. You want the the class to be not too easy and not too difficult, so that you can keep a steady pace and expand your language proficiency.

Q. Should I be concerned about my age, as I might be too "old" compared to my classmates?
A. Age should not be a concern. Keep in mind that your objective is to learn the language.

Q. What's the textbook for the language classes? 
A. For the Chinese language classes, from Chinese Kindergarten to Grade 12, the textbook is ZhongWen by JiNan University. You can find more information at http://www.hwjyw.com/textbooks/downloads/zhongwen/. For all other classes, the textbook varies, see your teacher for details.

Q. Do I need to buy textbook? 
A. For the Chinese language classes, from Chinese Kindergarten to Grade 12, the textbook is included in the tuition. It will be available for you at the start of the first class. For all other classes, the textbook varies, you will have to purchase it based on your teacher's recommendation.

Q. How to cancel a class? 
A. While you're at the registration web page, click on the class that you want to cancel. This will pop up a pull down list. Then select "Please Select One" at the top of that list. Once everything is OK, click on the push button "Submit Registration".

Q: Is the fees the total for the whole year? 
A: Yes.

Q: What's multiple students discount? 
A: Within a family, when register together, excluding the one student with the most tuition, all the rest of the student(s) will have 10% tuition and registration fee discount.

Q: Where can I find my registration prior to 5/12/2017? 
A: Due to the crash of the old web site, all the registration was lost. If you've already registered before 5/12/2017, please follow the above link and re-registrar. Any registration from previous years are also lost. The registration will have to be re-entered. Sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.
