Seventh Grade CAD Projects MP1 2012

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Project

The wheel. Bridges. The printing press. Skyscrapers. The personal computer. Throughout history, humans have used technology to solve personal, communal, and societal problems. Inventions as simple as the zipper and as complex as the microchip have changed the world forever. Seventh graders are challenged to identify relevant problems and use computer-aided design (CAD) software to illustrtate three-dimensional solutions. The project involves brainstorming ideas about what is important within life's various contexts, conducting research about safety regulations, potential users, and existing solutions, writing a proposal, calculating a realistic budget, and designing a digital presentation.
