Give your green thumb a workout in the warmth of our greenhouse! This course is designed as an overview of the taxonomic & structural characteristics of plants. An understanding of plant anatomy, function and growth will be discussed. Students will have the opportunity to work in a greenhouse setting and implement the knowledge they have learned in a hands-on setting. Students will also learn to identify popular horticultural plants and gain an understanding of their growth needs. Students will be expected to conduct an out of class experiential activity (Supervised Agricultural Experience Program) as a part of this course. Leadership & Career Development opportunities for students through the FFA will be presented.
Successful completion of this course may enable students to earn 4 college credits from Hennepin Technical College. (Plant Biology) This course also has a potential articulation agreement with several area colleges. See instructor for details.
