Built by Fredrikstad M/V of Fredrikstad for Det Nordenfjeldske Dampskibsselskab, delivered in July 1942. Shipyard number, 303. 


2,335 gross, 1,329 nett, 1,200 deadweight tonnes. Registered length 277.0 feet, overall length 289.6 feet, beam 43.2 feet, depth 14.2/23.0 feet. 239 nom. HP, 1,800 IHP FMV double compound ‘steam motor’, 14 knots. Laid down as cargo ship for service between Scandnavia and the Mediterranean, but design modified while under construction.


First Hurtigrute sailing in July 1942, but requisitioned between November 1942 and September 1944, then returned to truncated Trondheim to Tromsø service.


Refit in spring 1946, cabin capacity increased.


Further refit at Fredrikstad M/V between November 1947 and March 1948 to increase cabin capacity and for conversion to oil-firing. 


Sold in July 1960 to China Ocean Shipping, Guangzhou, renamed Xin Hua. Disappeared from Lloyd’s Register in 1991.
