Built 1964 by Akers M/V, Oslo, for Vesteraalens Dampskibsselskab, delivered on 27 February 1964. Shipyard number, 547. Cost, 17,000,000 kroner.

 

2,597 gross, 1,340 nett, 660 deadweight tonnes. Overall length 286.8 feet, beam 43.6 feet, depth 22.0 feet. 3,325 BHP, 7-cylinder DM 742 VT 2BF-90 B&W diesel, built under licence by Akers M/V.

 

Major refits at Aalborg Verft in autumn 1980 and autumn 1985. Following the second refit her hull was painted light blue(!) for a short while.

 

Became part of Ofotens og Vesteraalens Dampskibsselskab fleet on 1 January 1988. Sold on 1 October 1988 to Finnmark Fylkesrederi for 20,000,000 kroner. Further refit at Mjellem & Karlsen early 1996. Sold back to Ofotens-Vesteraalske on 1 February 1996. Became part of Hurtigruten Group (now Hurtigruten ASA) fleet in March 2006.

 

On Hurtigrute from1964 to 2002. First sailing on 5 March 1964, last regular sailing on 2 February 2002. Subsequently wintertime reserve ship and summertime cruising, especially in Svalbard.
