Built by Blöhm & Voss, Hamburg, for Vesteraalens Dampskibsselskab, delivered on 29 May 1956. Shipyard number, 788.

 

2,189 gross, 1,090 nett, 659 deadweight tonnes. Overall length 266.6 feet, beam 41.5 feet, depth 14.9/21.4 feet. 3,600 BHP, 10-cylinder G 10 52/74 MAN diesel, 16.6 knots on trials.

 

Refit in spring 1983 at Mjellem & Karlsen.

 

Became part of Ofotens og Vesteraalens Dampskibsselskab fleet on 1 January 1988.

 

Further 5,000,000 kroner refit in spring 1988, this time by Blohm & Voss.

 

On Hurtigrute from 1956 to 1993. Final Hurtigrute sailing terminated at Harstad on 21 December 1993.

 

Donated to the Hurtigrute museum in Stokmarknes in August 1994, then laid up. Visited Kaarbøs M/V in Harstad in May 1999 for sandblasting and preparation for being ‘plinthed’ outside the museum, this operation being realised on 16 June 1999.
