My name is Morné Lamont, welcome to my home page. I am currently a senior lecturer in Applied Statistics at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. I teach several courses in Statistics at undergraduate and postgraduate level. I was born and raised in Blanco (in George, the Western Cape) and currently live in an area near Cape Town.

Statistics research interests

Statistical learning theory; Kernel-based methods; Multivariate techniques in classification, regression and ordination; Applications of bootstrap methods and permutation tests on multivariate data; Statistical computations with R; Advanced graphical displays of multivariate data; Sparse methods for classification.

Applied research interests
Statistics is a valuable tool that can contribute to many other disciplines. I am looking for collaborators in other fields who want to apply statistical methodology in their research. My applied work is done using R or SAS.
