At the Learning Resource Center, tutors assist students in a wide variety of courses. They help students learn by discussing and explaining course concepts, providing supplemental drill and practice for course material, and imparting strategies for mastering course skills. Students should arrive with course materials and specific questions, prepared to receive tutoring in small group settings. Tutoring is available on a walk-in basis only: the LRC does not take appointments.
The LRC offers tutoring support for courses offered by several departments, including science and mathematics, marine transportation, marine engineering, international maritime business, and marine safety and environmental protection. Introductory and advanced level courses are tutored in science, mathematics, engineering, technology, physics, accounting, navigation, and others.
The LRC director is available to provide informational sessions about academic support services offered through the LRC to the MMA campus community. Faculty, coaches, administrators, staff, or student groups are encouraged to request such a visit at appropriate venues during the academic year. To do so, please visit our Session Request page.
During winter and summer sessions, the LRC operates on a restricted schedule. The schedule will be available only during winter and summer sessions by clicking: Winter and Summer Session Tutoring.
