Philosophy of Art Education

Through art lessons, my students explore their identity, community, and world using nature, culture, history, other lands, extraordinary artists, mathematic and scientific phenomenon, literature, and basic character education. Art education supports the core curriculum and shows how academic subjects are connected to real life. My art classes teach students that although we can rarely be perfect, we can always make progress. We can always do our best, knowing that when creativity fails us, our teachers and fellow artist classmates support us. I value student's unique cultures, personal interests, learning styles, and special needs. I integrate cultural appreciation into all of my lesson plans, and include writing, technology, math, and critical thinking.
