The First MLD Student Research Symposium will take place on Friday, November 13, 2009. The symposium will showcase ongoing research of the students from the Machine Learning Department. It will be an excellent venue to learn about exciting research, to exchange ideas, and to network. We warmly welcome our friends and colleagues from Carnegie Mellon, the University of Pittsburgh and the Collaborative Innovation Center to join us in this intellectual and social event.

The exciting lineup of activities include:
  • Six featured oral presentations of late-breaking research
  • Tens of poster presentations
  • A provocative faculty panel discussion on Machine and human learning: conflict and confluence
  • Two tutorials
    • Introduction to Independent Component Analysis
    • Learning and Inference in Vision: from Features to Scene Understanding
  • Networking lunch
This is a FREE, full-day event hosted by the Machine Learning Department at its new home at the Gates Center for Computer Science, and you are welcome to attend any parts of it. Register here to indicate your dietary preference for lunch and snacks served at the symposium.
