Photoshop

All of these works were done as a hobby using either Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. The works use photographs, free-hand techniques, photo effects, and manipulation of a 3D model, created in DAZ Studio 3.  Newest works are listed at the bottom of the page.

Collages & Image Manipulation (2003-2010)



Title: Desert Landscape
Date: 10/15/2003

Materials: pencil sketch, Adobe Photoshop Elements
Technique: a pencil sketch of a desert landscape was scanned and enlarged; this image was applied over an abstract background which was distorted; image effects and shadows were applied

Goal: to experiment with image techniques within Photoshop; to combine pencil sketches with digital imagery




Title: Dance Hall
Date: 11/17/2003


Materials: Adobe Photoshop Elements, digital photographs of buildings, vector shapes, text
Technique: vector shapes were combined with text to create a dance-club-style sign which was overlaid with buildings; image was colorized, spliced and recombined; the image was "flattened" and textures were applied; a frame was created from an image of blue velvet, which was then darkened


Goal: familiarize oneself with multiple image editing techniques in Photoshop Elements




Title: Tundra Lilies
Date: 10/13/2003


Materials: Adobe Photoshop Elements, digital images
Technique: digital photos were taken at the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, CO; these images were combined and enhanced with lighting effects in Photoshop Elements


Goal: None




Title: Galaxy
Date: 07/15/2008

Materials: Intous3 tablet, digital images, Adobe Photoshop
Technique: a portrat was sketched following the technique used for the "Digital Portraits;" this image was overlaid on an image of a galaxy, and lighting effects were applied

Title: Dark Eyelashes
Date: 10/05/2009

Materials: DAZ Studio 3; Adobe Photoshop
Technique: a model was created in DAZ Studio 3, the image was rendered and imported into Photoshop, where it was cropped, and the "Stamp" feature was applied

Title: Portrait
Date: 03/08/2011

Materials: DAZ Studio 3; Adobe Photoshop
Technique: a model was created in DAZ Studio 3, the image was rendered and imported into Photoshop, where it was cropped, and the "Stamp" feature was applied

Title: The Red-Black Red Hat Society
Date: 10/15/2010

Materials: Intous3 tablet, digital images, Adobe Photoshop
Technique: a digital portrait was created using the method for "Digital Portraits" below; this image was overlaid on a texture of crumpled paper; shading effects were added, and the image was combined with other, similar-themed, images

Goal: to create a collage with a limited color palate

Technique: Using a reference image, the portrait was sketched using the brush feature in Photoshop; various sizes of brush were used with different opacities and pressures
