This page represents my hobby work with ArtRage Pro, a digital painting program, and DAZ Studio 3, a 3D modeling and animation program.


ArtRage Pro





Title: Poppy
Date: 10/01/2010

Materials: Intous3 tablet, ArtRage Pro
Technique: using the tablet and ArtRage interface, an oil paint look was emulated, applying mixing and color techniques similar to real paint on canvas

Goal: To practice using various techniques within the ArtRage interface
Title: Hummer
Date: 10/05/2010

Materials: Intous3 tablet, ArtRage Pro
Technique: using the tablet and ArtRage interface, a watercolor look was emulated, applying mixing and color techniques similar to real watercolors on watercolor paper

Goal
: To create a quick sketch using the ArtRage interface; practice color blending on different virtual papers
Title: Pansy
Date: 10/05/2010

Technique: using the tablet and ArtRage interface, an airbrush look was emulated, applying mixing and color techniques similar to real paint on canvas


Goal
: to practice airbrush technique within the ArtRage interface
Title: Nude in Repose
Date: 01/28/11

Materials: Intous 3 tablet, ArtRage Pro
Technique: using the tablet and ArtRage interface, a limited-palate watercolor look was emulated, applying mixing and color techniques similar to real paint on paper

Goal: to practice watercolor technique within the ArtRage interface


DAZ Studio 3

Title: Emma
Date: 07/22/2010

Materials: DAZ Studio 3, The Kids 4 models
Technique: the basic girl model was modified within the program to create a unique character; preloaded clothing and hair models were added, preloaded textures were added to the model

Goal: to create a unique character design within DAZ Studio; to experiment with model poses
Title: Emma Jumping
Date: 12/01/2010

Materials: DAZ Studio 3, The Kids 4 models
Technique: the model created at left was animated using DAZ Studio's Puppeteer program; key poses were created and intermediate poses were interpolated between key frames; individual frames were rendered together as an .avi file

Goal: to learn how to animate models within DAZ Studio 3; to experiment with computer animation

Little Girls & Their Dolls

Materials: DAZ Studio 3, The Kids 4 models
Technique: the basic girl model was modified using similar methods as for Emma; a second child model was modified to create the proportions of a doll; a "plastic" skin texture was applied to the doll; doll and girl were posed and rendered together using DAZ Uber Environment

Goal: To create a scene using multiple models within DAZ Studio

Materials: DAZ Studio 3, The Kids 4 models
Technique: the basic girl model was modified using similar methods as for Emma; a second child model was modified to create the proportions of a doll; a "plastic" skin texture was applied to the doll; doll and girl were posed and rendered together using DAZ Uber Environment

Goal: To create a scene using multiple models within DAZ Studio

Technique: the basic kid model was modified by changing parameters to create a unique character; preloaded high resolution skin textures were applied to the model; lighting and shading were added within DAZ Studio; the scene was rendered using DAZ software and Uber Environment

Goal: To create a scene using lighting and shading effects, generate a photo-realistic image; to create a realistic 3D model of a character Katie imagined in 1999

Goal: To create characters for a children's video game concept; each girl was posed in a powerful and confident stance; these characters will be used to engage girls in math and science
