Apple Cranberry Sauce

Servings - 16    Serving Size - approx. 1/4 cup   Points per svg- 1 point  ( if you have 1/2 cup it is 3 points)   Pointsplus per svg- 2 points

1 12-ounce package of fresh cranberries, sorted and rinsed

1 cup apple juice, 100% juice

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large apple, peeled and diced ( I used a Honeycrisp ) 

1 lemon, juiced and zested

1 orange, juiced and zested

1. In large saucepan, mix the cranberries, juice and sugar.  Cook over medium-low heat until the cranberries begin to "pop."  ( you will hear them popping )  Add the apples, juices from the lemon and orange, and zests.  Cook another 15 -20 minutes.  

2.  Remove from heat and allow to cool.  Refrigerate 24 hours or overnight to allow the sauce to thicken.  The amount of natural pectin in the fruit will determine how much your sauce gels.
