Apple launches "One Best Thing": A Collection of Multi-Touch Books by ADEs It seems like Apple always has a nice surprise for the educational community every so often. This time, a collection of 102 multi-touch books with a wide spectrum of educational best practices, interesting projects, avant-garde use of technology in the classroom and much more is now available for free in iBooks. As I had the privilege to be a part of this amazing project, I'd like to share what it was like and how you can make the best ose of this. Apple describes One Best Thing as: A collection of books, created by Apple Distinguished Educators (ADEs), that demonstrate the use of Apple technologies to transform teaching and learning. Each One Best Thing book shares a unit, a lesson, or a best practice and is designed to help another educator implement a successful practice. It’s a professional learning idea championed by an educator—in word and action—that others can look to for ideas and tips on how to replicate. First of all, this is a project created by a group of 102 Apple Distinguished Educators (ADEs) at the Apple Institutes in 2013. This was the landmark project that originated from those institutes among many other fantastic PD opportunities. Educators from all geographies participated creating their One Best Thing highlighting what they do best in education. However, of all submissions the ADE editorial team selected these 102 that really encapsulate 21st Century learning. In Apple's words, One Best Thing invites you to: Discover innovative classroom strategies and activities in these Multi-Touch books by Apple Distinguished Educators. Each guide in the One Best Thing collection highlights a specific use of Apple products, apps, and other content to transform teaching and learning. From effective assessment practices to exciting student projects, this professional learning series – devised by outstanding educators – provides practical tips and a lot of inspiration.
