Miss Lagas was selected to be one of eight participants in a Research Experience for Teachers (RET) in Biophotonics at Boston University in the Summer 2010. The program is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the purpose of the program is to bring the research experience back into the classroom.  Miss Lagas worked for 6 weeks in Boston University's Photonics Center in the Biological Sensing and Imaging Laboratory (BSAIL) and worked with their Interferometric Reflectance Imaging Sensor (IRIS), which is a biosensing project.
