Our district uses Houghton Mifflin Reading.  To learn more about this series you can check the publisher’s website.

My goal is to supplement the textbook using Mosaic of Thought and a Reader's Workshop approach.

We are currently reading Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls.  As “real readers” we understand that visualizing is one of the comprehension strategies good readers use.  As we read, we pay attention to the different scenes that play like a movie inside each of our heads.

Research has shown vocabulary instruction is one of the most critical areas we can teach to ensure our students’ success in reading comprehension.  Please review the weekly vocabulary or root words with your student each day.
