This course is intended to provide opportunities for students to learn elements of media and visual literacy and to develop introductory skills in television and multimedia production.

Most TV Production projects are done in iMovie.

Atomic Learning - You will need a user ID and password for this.  Please email me if you have lost yours.

Finals: The iMovie Project must be completely edited,  compressed, shared and handed into the TV Production iMovie Folder.  Failure to complete your project will negatively impact your grade.  Remember that you will have to hand in your nine journals, your artist statement, and grading rubric on Tuesday when you present your project.  We will take the final during the study period and present the projects during the finals.

Tuesday 5/26/09: We will watch the Commercials today. The iMovie Project is explained to the class.  We will take a second quiz on camera shots and angles tomorrow.  Remember to start your iMovie Journal.

Friday 5/22/09: We will finish the Commercials today. Quiz is moved until next Wednesday.

Thursday 5/21/09: We will continue the Commercials today. They are due tomorrow at the end of class.  Quiz is moved until next Wednesday.

Wednesday 5/20/09: We will continue the Commercials today. Quiz is moved until next Wednesday.

Tuesday 5/19/09: We will finish watching the News Briefs and grading them today.  We will begin the Commercials today.  REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE A QUIZ TOMORROW ON CAMERA SHOTS AND ANGLES.

Monday 5/18/09: Any remaining iMovie Slide Shows need to be checked off and saved today.  We will watch Big Dream, Small Screen and complete the KWL and Questions.  Any remaining News Briefs must be shared and compressed for viewing tomorrow. 

Friday 5/15/09: iMovie Slidelete thows are due during class today.  We will go to the Gold Lab to finish them. News Briefs should be done today.

Thursday 5/14/09: As groups complete News Briefs, students may work on any late/missing work or iMovie Slide Shows that are due.  We will go to the Gold Lab to finish them tomorrow. News Briefs should be done today.

Wednesday 5/13/09: As groups complete News Briefs, students may work on any late/missing work or iMovie Slide Shows that are due on Friday.   We will go to the Gold Lab to finish them this Friday.

Tuesday 5/12/09: News Brief iMovies should be completed by the end of already, and they need to be exported onto a MiniDV tape.  All anchors must have two copies of their completed scripts and be ready to go at the beginning of class today.  While we are recording News Briefs, you may want to work on your personal iMovie Slideshow Project.  We will go to the Gold Lab to finish them this Friday.

Monday 5/11/09: News Brief iMovies should be completed by the end of class today.  Please complete your iMovies so we can export them onto your MiniDV Tapes.  All anchors must have completed scripts and be ready to go at the beginning of class tomorrow.  While we are recording News Briefs, you may want to work on your personal iMovie Slideshow Project.  We will go to the Gold Lab to finish them this Friday.

Friday 5/8/09: Your News Analysis is due today. In-Camera Project will be graded today.  Please keep working on your News Brief.  I want to start recording them on Monday.  Please complete your iMovies so we can export them onto your MiniDV Tapes.

Thursday 5/7/09: Parent-Teacher Conferences are tonight. Midterm grades are due today.  Any final changes to your In-Camera Project need to be completed before you leave today.  They will be graded tomorrow.  Remember that you must watch the news at home for your News Analysis, which is due tomorrow.

Wednesday 5/6/09: Get your midterm grade signed by tomorrow.  If you have not gotten your MiniDV tape, please do that today or you will be marked LATE.  Remember that you must watch the news at home for your News Analysis, which is due on Friday.

Tuesday 5/5/09: We are going to continue the iMovie Slideshow today.  Remember that you need at least ten pictures and a school-appropriate song.  If you have not gotten your MiniDV tape, please do that today or you will be marked LATE.  Tomorrow will be the last day you can buy one from me.

Monday 5/4/09: We are going to start the iMovie Slideshow today.  Remember that you must bring in at least ten pictures and a school-appropriate song on a CD.  If you have not gotten your MiniDV tape, please do that today or you will be marked LATE.

Friday 5/1/09: We will watch some In-Camera and Interviews today.  The Commercial Analysis is due today.  Remember that you must bring in at least ten pictures and a school-appropriate song on a CD for Monday.  If you have not gotten your MiniDV tape, please do that by Monday or you will be marked LATE.

Thursday 4/30/09:  In-Camera Projects are due today.  Also, remember that your commercial analysis is due tomorrow.  If you want to use a Youtube or online commercial, you must send an email to me before school ends today (with your name and a working link to the URL) to: eboeser@bloomington.k12.mn.us.  Remember that you must bring in at least ten pictures and a school-appropriate song on a CD for Monday.  If you have not gotten your MiniDV tape, please do that by Monday or you will be marked LATE.

Friday 4/24/09:  The Camera Shots and Angles quiz is today.  Hand in your Three pages of notes.  Please complete the worksheet for Understanding Television and hand it in before you leave.  It is due on Monday as is the money for miniDV tapes.

Thursday 4/23/09:  Today we will go over an notes and an exercise on Storyboarding.  I handed out the Commercial Analysis, which is due next Friday. Study your notes for the Camera Shots and Angles quiz tomorrow.

Wednesday 4/22/09:  Everyone should have finished the interviews today.  Study your notes for the Camera Shots and Angles quiz Friday. 

Tuesday 4/21/09:  Everyone continued taping interviews today.  Please study your notes for the Camera Shots and Angles quiz on Friday.

Monday 4/20/09:  Your Parent Letter, mini DV tape, Cultural LiteracyMagazine Analysis and Interview Styles are all due today.  We will take notes on Camera Moves to help you with taping your assignments.  Study these AND HAND THEM IN for your quiz on Friday.  Everyone must have Interview questions ready before they can begin taping interviews today.

Friday 4/17/09:  Students should have brought magazines for extra credit. Get your Parent Letter signed, remember to bring a mini DV tape or $5.00, hand in your Cultural Literacy assignment, interview styles with Connie Chung and Michael Moore all on Monday.

Thursday 4/16/09:  We took notes on Camera Shots and Angles to start class today.  We watched interview styles with Connie Chung and Michael Moore and worked on analyzing shots and angles, which is due tomorrow.  Students should have brought magazines for extra credit. Get your Parent Letter signed, remember to bring a mini DV tape or $5.00 and complete your Cultural Literacy assignment for tomorrow.

Wednesday 4/15/09:  We finished a brief interview as a "get to know you" exercise. We took Interview Notes and looked at past student examples.  Students should have brought magazines for extra credit.  Get your Parent Letter signed, remember to bring a mini DV tape or $5.00 and complete your Cultural Literacy assignment for tomorrow.

Tuesday 4/14/09:  Students handed in their one-page letter about themselves.  We recorded a brief interview as a "get to know you" exercise.  Get your Parent Letter signed, remember to bring a mini DV tape or $5.00 and complete your Cultural Literacy assignment.  Students should bring magazines for extra credit. 

Monday 4/13/09: Class Standards/Parent Letter were handed out.  We looked at examples of projects students have done in the past.  Make sure you write a one-page letter about yourself for tomorrow's activities.  Get your Parent Letter signed, bring a magazine, remember to bring a mini DV tape or $5.00 and complete your Cultural Literacy Quiz.
