Chapters Announce

2013 Conferences

MISA/ASIM Canada and three of its member associations have announced plans for major conferences in 2013. Locations will include two of Canada’s premier resort communities -- Whistler, BC, and Banff, Alberta.

The third annual Municipal CIO Summit, a national forum for senior municipal IT leaders, will take place September 9-10 at Whistler. It will be presented by MISA/ASIM Canada in conjunction with the MISA BC Fall Conference, which will follow immediately afterward.

Both conferences will be held at the Chateau Whistler. Sessions at the MISA BC conference will be held Wednesday, May 11 and Thursday, May 12.

Meanwhile MISA BC is making plans to emphasize workshops at its other major annual event. The MISA BC Spring Conference will feature half-day educational workshops addressing a theme of “The CIO as Business Manager.”

The spring conference will take place in Penticton on dates to be selected in April.

Also in April, the MISA Prairies 2013 Annual Conference will be held for the first time in Banff at the Banff Centre. The dates will be April 14-16.

In Ontario, the City of Waterloo will be host for the 2013 MISA Ontario Annual Conference on June 2-5. The conference site will be RIM Park, which was also the site of the 2007 conference.

Chapters are presenting an increasing number of regional events as well as major conferences. MISA Prairies held a Mobility Workshop in Leduc, Alberta, on November 1. MISA Ontario will present a Snow Day Networking Event in Collingwood on January 25.

National Municipal         Pricing Program

Regional member marketing is an accepted method for vendors to promote their special offers to the local municipal governments in Canada.  Working with the municipal community is part of the value statement for regional associate members within MISA/ASIM Canada associations.  Regional members can obtain value from these special offers if the vendors tailor them to the specific needs of local municipal governments and price them competitively.

It was March 2008, when MISA/SIM Canada first introduced the first National Municipal Pricing Program to its members.  All municipalities that are members of MISA Atlantic, MISA BC, MISA ON, MISA Prairies and RIMQ were able to take advantage of the special discounted pricing negotiated by MISA/ASIM Canada.  That marked the first time that municipalities across Canada had equitably priced access to the same products and services.  Since 2008, a total of 11 companies have joined the program.

The cost to participate in the 2012 program is $250 a year.  As a National Municipal Pricing Program member, you will receive:

·         Promotion of your offer in the form of a press release to all MISA members upon acceptance/launch;

·         Company profile and details of your offer on the MISA/ASIM Canada Web site and links to it on the chapter Web sites;

·         An article detailing your offer in the next edition of Municipal Interface immediately following the acceptance/launch.

If your company would like to be part of this great program, please submit a proposal outlining the proposed services to Kathryn Bulko, at kbulko@toronto.ca.

All requests for National Municipal Pricing Program special offers shall be reviewed for approval by the MISA/ASIM Board.
