Schemes-Voices-Languages

Topic on how to change your map colors and altering your voices and languages.

What are Color Schemes?

Color schemes are the map colors used for different types of roads, water, industrial surroundings, urbanisation, woods and so on, in your navigation maps.

How do i change the map colors in my Mio?

From the Map mode or Cockpit mode, tap on the MENU button, tap the HOUSE icon (in the lower right corner), and then tap the TOOLS icon (in the upper right corner). This will put you into SETTINGS mode. Tap the Tap on the ADVANCED button, and then the MAP OPTIONS button and then you can select the Daylight Color Profile or the Night Color Profile. You can then select any of the pre-defined color schemes.

How can i add new color schemes from the net?

Color schemes can be changed pretty easily, but it is a lot of work to change all the valuables (see next chapter). Fortunately, for us, several ready made can be found on the net.

When you have found some schemes you like you have to copy them to:

\My Flash Disk\miomap\miomap\scheme

Remember to copy them as a zip-file. So do not copy unzipped schemes to your device, they will not work!

Copying can be done with Mio Trnasfer Hack through your usb connection, by bluetooth or active sync.

What do these schemes look like & where to get them?

For some downloads see links on the top left corner.

I gathered some examples of them right here. A picture says more than a thousand words, right?

Making your own color scheme (under construction)

Unzip one of the color schemes located in miomap\miomap\scheme of your mio device to your hard drive.

In the unzipped file are located 3 files:

      texture.bmp

    texture.spr

color.ini

Texture.bmp and texture.spr:

0, constructions
1, town forest
2, industrial area, airports, railways
3, forest
4, communal park
5, cemetary
6, water
7, zone ferrovière
8, zone urbaine
9, arrière-plan (partition area)

color.ini:

color_name = <texture_id>,<R>,<G>,<B>
<texture_id> = one of the numbers in the texture.bmp

<R>,<G>,<B>= each letter represents a RGB color. See the following link for the representation of these colors.

 Voices

This is a description on what to do if you would like to add voices to your Mio  or even delete the ones you do not use anyway.

You can obtain Dutch voices on

http://www.mioforum.be/index.php/topic,100.0.html

(You need to be an active member with at least 6 posts to acces the files!).

Or other voices on http://my.pdamill.com/igo/

You will need Mio transfer hack, Bluetooth or Active Sync to add voices to your device.

I prefer Mio Transfer Hack.

Adding new voice(s)

Copy your zipped voice(s) to:

"\My Flash Disk\Miomap\miomap\voice"

After you have done this you can alter your default voice in your Mio.

  • Start Miomap.
  • Open settings screen (icon top right hand corner).
  • Click language button.
  • Change "Voice Language" to your new chosen voice.
  • Leave the menu and you are all set.

Deleting not used voice(s)

Again open Mio Transfer Hack.

Go to directory

"\My Flash Disk\Miomap\miomap\voice"

  • Highlight the voice(s) you want to delete.
  • Make sure you selected the right voices and click on the delete button, second from the left  just above the 2 windows or push the delete button on your keyboard.

Close Mio Transfer. You are all set.

Languages

For languages the same rules applies as with the voices.

The only difference is the directory where the languages are located.

"\My Flash Disk\Miomap\miomap\language"

Languages can be found on http://my.pdamill.com/igo/
