Miniaturized Coherent Atom Sensors

Inertial sensors based on Optics and Atomic interferometry is a potential breakthrough technology for the future of very accurate accelerometers  and gyroscopes used in earth, air or space navigation or in accurate geodesy. Today the use of this kind of sensors relies on the ability of miniaturizing and simplifying the current systems developed in the labs. This miniaturisation requires both a fundamental investigation about new atoms sources to develop compacts sensors et and an effort to change laboratories experiments into compact, reliable and autonomous systems. MINIATOM main goal is to improve scientific know-how developed by the best French labs in this topic and to convert it progressively into industrial know-how. Reciprocally, MINIATOM also aims to bring industrial capacities in miniaturisation and integration towards scientific topics of fundamental physics such as matter waves manipulation for example.
