PHD DISSERTATION WORK
I have worked on the development and validation of optical imaging systems for noninvasive tissue hemodynamics and metabolism measurements. Clinical applications includes muscle performance evaluation, wound healing monitoring, flap necrosis prediction, etc..

2016 – 2019 Mastectomy Skin Flap Imaging
noncontact imaging of 3D blood flow distribution in and around mastectomy skin flap right after mastectomy; for prediction of flap necrosis and early intervention (intra-operative measurement in OR).Technique: non-contact diffuse correlation spectroscopy/tomography; diffuse speckle contrast imaging. 2015 – 2018 Exercising Muscle Hemodynamics Monitoring
giving vitamin D supplement or placebo to older population, evaluate their muscle metabolisms by noninvasive optical measurements of tissue blood flow and hemodynamics in exercising muscles.
Technique: near infrared spectroscopy; diffuse correlation spectroscopy. (laser, APD, fiber-optics)
My contribution:
Engineering: flowmetry and oximeter synchronization, adding external trigger (circuits + programming); instrument maintenance
Clinical study: protocol design and refinement; optical data collection and analysis; MRI/MRS data collection and analysis (Linux system, C shell script).

My contribution: Schematic capture & PCB layout (whole system on one board, mixed-signal, PCB serves as vehicle chassis, strict space restriction, surface-mount components), PCB soldering (fine pitch SMD), circuit bring-up; hardware maintenance
(My first time integrating whole system on one PCB, with complicated mechanical requirements.)
2011 fall: TJU Robot Contest
function: Avoid obstacles. Deliver a ball to specified location
My contribution: Mechanical design; analog circuits design, debugging and hardware maintenance

2011 summer: China 5th MEMS Application Contest
3D organ: Cubic electronic organ with keys on 4 faces. LED twinkling while playing. Preset music automatically playing when shaking the organ. Check video: Jingle Bells
My contribution: Mechanical design (autoCAD) and assembling; circuits and PCB design (load-bearing PCB serves as organ keyboard, another PCB for minimum mircocontroller system), debugging and hardware maintenance
(Our original design! We won 1st prize in final, ranked top 15 among nation-wide candidates.)
2010 fall: TJU Robot Contest
function: Start the robot by given acoustic signal; Read bar codes; Keep balance on the seesaw; Look for metals.
My contribution: Mechanical design; sensor circuits design, debugging and hardware maintenance
(It is my 1st robot. Our team got "Best Technical Prize"!)

system composition: pre-amplifier (main IC: AD620, module on handmade PCB), optical isolation (TLP521), low pass filter (4 order Butterworth filter), notch filter (twin-T 2 order notch filter, centered at power-line interference frequency), major amplifier (LM324). Power supply: 220V AC to ± 5V DC, isolated ± 5V DC power supply for preamplifier for safety concern.
