( Under construction)

This site has been developped to accommodate  the searchable database 'galerie de mine' which is an index of all the representations of mines and mining in european art, literature, film, photographs etc...that one person could collect over the years.
The database is   only available in French at the moment but an English language version is in preparation.
Hopefully, the site will provide enough information to enable a non-French speaker to  find his way among its more than 2000 references.

'mines in european culture' has  the following  fourfold purpose :
  • to afford an introduction to the database (the database)
  • to highlight points of interest  (Albums A&B:slideshows)
  • to generally facilitate exchanges on the subject via      postmaster@galerie-de-mine.eu
its  ultimate aim is to become an ever more useful instrument for all those who are interested in the cultural impact of mining in countries where it  is  fast becoming a rather dim memory.
N.B. Once on the database you have to return to this page to move on to Albums.                                                                                                                                                                                                              Yves Bouveret
