Abelson, Robert. Professor Emeritus at Yale. Abelson worked in mathematical psychology, particularly in statistics. He wrote a text-book on this subject. Statistics as Principled Argument (1995) describes some of the philosophical and experimental design issues involved in the use of statistics in psychological research. Abelson is most famous for his work with Roger Schank on computational models of story comprehension. In their book Scripts, Plans, Goals, and Understanding (1977), they introduced the concepts of scripts, plans and themes to handle story-level understanding.
