"Busay" is a Cebuano word that means "waterfalls." In the Aklanon dialect, it means "spring." The brothers baptized this newsletter "Busay" to capture Mindanao's abundant and crystal rivers and lakes. In fact, "Mindanao" literally means "inundated" or "underwater." "Busay" is also coined from the first syllable of "Buhi," meaning 'alive' and "Sayud," thus means "dynamic and active knowledge of something." This mirrors the brothers' earnest desire to know and understand the lifestyle, aspirations, difficulties, conflicts, triumphs, and much- yearned -for unity and peaceful coexistence among the Mindanao Tri-people: Lumads or indigenous peoples, the Muslims and Christian settlers.

As the brothers explore and immerse themselves in the daily experiences of the tri-people, they deepen and grow in their kasuyuran (knowledge) of their kinabuhi (life) as Capuchin Friars Minor who are lesser brothers to the tri-people.
