Report after the festival by Minami Masato

This year about 3,500 people from 63 countries enjoyed the 10days festival. Thank you so much!

Episode 1 < Peace song >
When I was thinking about my song (Heiwa no rap), I had an inspiration.
Can't we sing this peace song in various languages?
At the corner of the dormitory there were some people from Korea and Taiwan. They cooperated and soon both version was made up.
On the main stage on the last day of festival, we finally could sing in five languages, Japanese, Thai, Korean, Chinese, and English! It was so exciting to sing one song in many languages!! I almost shed tears. I think this never happened before in any festival through out the world. I hope many more languages will join next year.

Episode 2 <King Nikom pulled out the plug!>
Mr. Nikom is the top person of this camp site. One night, three days before the last day when Thai group was in the middle of the performance on the stage, sound and light suddenly stoped without any notice. What happened!!?
Soon we found out Nikom did it. He said we didn't keep the promise of time. It was just before 10 o'clock not so late.
He insists so much about the right to stop the music.
We couldn't stand any more about what he done to us.
So we decided to say bye-bye to Nikom and to move to a brand new camping place in Chiang Dao. We are now very happy and excited, thinking and imaging how we will make nicer festival in a new place.

Thank you for joining us and see you next year!!( next year shambhala festival is 2019.2.7〜2.16)

                      2017
Check out this wonderful blog post by 'Blond Travels' about our festival last year.

 2016

We achieved our 7th festival successfully. I am extremely thanksful to the gods of heaven, the god of Thailand, and the holy spirits of Mt.
Doi Luang for unvisible great gift of love. If 2000 people who
actually entered the fes had come to the first planned site, it
might've ended in great failure with great confusion.

How could I try to hold the fes in the site without any toilet? I was in desperation that time, but now I know I was simply reckless.

However, the gods of heaven were observing our passion.
"Oh, they are seriously trying to do something, OK,let them    use the intended place."
Heaven only checks our seriousness. He checks the degree of
seriousness again and again.
I learned it too much by experience.

The number 7---now we has accomplished 7th fes--- means an end or completion.
Sunlight consists of 7 colors. A week has 7 days. The body has 7 chakras.
The vibration has been raised after 7th accomplishment. To say, foundation of our team of the fes has become (rough cutting but)rather firm.
Especially Thai staffs worked with remarkable assiduity.
Mr.Heart is a modest person---early morning I saw him managing tremendous
amonts of yesterday's garbage as a matter of course.

Tua brilliantly settled the most annoying matter:
Actually money changes hands in this festival, but it is not allowed for foreign organizers.
So if the authorities check us, the foreign organizer (me,
Minami Masato) will be legally punished and refused entry to Thailand
for five years!
I have been sounding Ms. Pik out, but it did not succeed. When I am tearing my hair out with Ura-san,
Tua said ``Leave it all to me. I will be the organizer of Thai side. No problem!"smiling before my very eyes.
Ura-san and me jumped for joy ``It's good to hear, it's all right now".
Step by step, Thai side will enlarge the staff for the next year's fes.

Ryoji and Hiromi family who used to say that they want to go to Shambhara take part in the fes for the first time.
In the brook streaming along the fes place, children have a joy and their mother has a bathe comfortably rolling up her trousers with barefoot as though she entrust the dreamscape with everyting---the scene recurs to my mind.
Migaku (a son of Ryoji) is liked by Hazuki (a daughter of
Yosuke): He's taken around with arm in arm embarrassedly or happily by turns---I laugh at him in spite of myself.
All children are future of the earth.
In Shambhara Festival which is safe and relaxed, I am convinced that we handed the splendor of the future to every child.

We keep on in the same place.
We are thinking how to use the place over the river.
Finally, I thank all the staff members from the bottom of my heart.
I really thank you.
I hope you will support us as possible.
And, please bring the future staff up robustly.

By the way, the winner of the HEPOPA prize is the team of Yujin and Tua for builudng the stage.
Hope to be on the same stage next year!

Alright then, later. HEPOPA!
Minami Masato, 2016.3.10, at hot hot Pi.

Shambhara Festival 2017 is decided to be held from February 9 (Thu) to February 18 (Sat).

FOR SHAMBHALA FESTIVAL IN 2015

No one can deny the fact that this material-oriented civilization created by our immature thoughts has wildly forced us and the whole Earth to head into serious condition. However,

one can also ask this; Are we really heading there? There must be many other options for solutions.

I strongly believe that we have a responsibility of seeking answers of if the paths we have taken are right for the future;
doing so by talking to each other with our eyes wide-opened and having many charankes ( meaning “discussion” in Ainu language ) in order to chase the ultimate truth of this whole universe.

Some think that this gathering is just one of those full-moon parties where everyone goes crazy until sunrise, but it is not. Our purpose and intention are far from it.

To understand, we certainly have to look at the real meaning of this unique location where the festival is held. This Shambhala Festival is where the East and West meet and become one, which has shown us a whole new horizon that nobody had ever seen before.

We had people coming from 20-plus countries this year. That means 20-plus languages were spoken there. It never happened, and no place ever saw it.
By now, nobody is talking whether you are Japanese or Thai, and it is an understanding that’s way above governments or politics can draw lines and that gives such a surprise and joy of the notion that we have overcome all the obstacles to have a mutual understanding of us being beings, which led myself to think that I would just love to be here forever. Such notions and feelings were all over the festival. I faced so many moments that things were crossing the borders.

As a member of this festival-team, I wish strongly to help people fully realize their potential hidden in their inner-selves, their natural holiness, and their existence meant to shine.

May peace prevail on Earth

Masato Minami
