Marching Band Weekly Update 8/15-8/19

Below is the email sent out over Charms for this upcoming week:

Good Afternoon,
In this email, you'll find information regarding what is going on with the Marching Pioneers this week. You'll also find info regarding other items for the Marching Pioneers. If you have any questions after reading the email, don't hesitate to contact me at TuckerJ@fcpsk12.net.

Schedule of Events
8/15-16 No School or Rehearsal
8/17 First Day of School
8/18 First After-School Practice 3-6 PM
        Group Pictures
        Preview Show at James Wood HS @ 7 pm 

Group Pictures:
On Thursday, following our short practice, we will be doing professional pictures for the marching band. We will do a group shot, along with having individual shots for those interested. If you did not get the picture form at the preview last Friday, email me and I'll send you the form electronically tomorrow or Tuesday. Students may also pick up a form from me in school on Wednesday. Money will be due at the pictures.

Preview Show at James Wood HS 8/18 7 PM: 
In addition to practice and pictures, we will be joining Sherando, Handley, and James Wood for an exhibition at James Wood HS. The exhibition is free and open to the public. We will most likely be the first band to go on. Below is our itinerary for the event:
5:30 PM Eat, Pack, and Load
6:00 PM Depart for JWHS
6:20 PM Approximate arrival, unload, warm-up
7:00 PM Perform
8:00 PM Combined bands picture, pack up, and leave
8:45 PM Approximate arrival, unload, go home
Students will be wearing the carolina blue band shirt that we gave out on Friday. Students should wear either khaki or jean shorts. Please no variations on this. Hair, make-up, and jewelry rules do not apply to this performance.

Marching Band Member Contribution/Fee:
The member contribution for the year is $120. The first $50 was due at the registration night, while the remaining $70 was due at the end of camp. Please be sure to take care of this as soon as possible. If there is a financial hardship, please let me know so we can work things out. Checks should be made out to MHSBBA and all money is to be placed in the safe. If writing a check, please note your child's name at the bottom of the check. Cash should be brought in an envelope and include the child's name, what the money is for, and the amount. 

Marching Shoe and Glove Money:
Your child should have brought home an envelope with a bill for how much is owed for gloves and/or shoe. If this did not happen, please email me. As we purchase these from a uniform supplier, we need that turned in asap. Money can be placed in the safe.

Electronic communication:
We are adding more means of communication with our families, school, and public this fall. All students and families should sign up for the Remind service, as we will use that to provide updates while traveling. We also encourage you to follow the band on Twitter and on Facebook.
